For the price it's a great replacement for burning a CD-R or DVD-R to share data in a situation where you don't want your media back /expect. They're impressively slow, and I've seen multiple cases of data loss, both in real-world use and in the exaggerated case where I created a raidz2 array of eight of them (just to see what happens). However, if you have a use for them and use them with open eyes (checking hashes, using archive formats with CRC [mostly all] etc.) they are valuable. All of that, and they come in a variety of fun colors.
