Even though it costs more to buy this smaller wall mounted jewelry cabinet (as opposed to buying one of the many full mirrored versions) I'm very glad I chose this section decided for everything else. First, it works great with my existing jewelry cabinet. It's a nice closet so I didn't want to give it away or otherwise dispose of it just to save some money for a closet. You see, I really wanted this necklace and earring storage cabinet. I have used freestanding shelves to hang these items, but they and the decorations on them have always been very dusty and dirty. I needed an enclosed jewelry storage solution to protect my items from the elements. Even of the cheaper full-size cabinets I reviewed, this shorter product still had a much better internal layout and the largest earring storage of all. I wasn't interested in the mirror at first, but now that I've installed the cabinet, it's really great. Now I wear jewelry almost every day, even if I don't leave the house, simply because the mirror makes it easy to choose and try on different jewelry. This mirror is of good quality, excellent clarity and large enough. Speaking of which, all of the materials used to construct this cabinet are of excellent quality and it was packaged well so there was no visible damage to the unit upon arrival. Now the locking feature, while technically working, is completely useless to me as my existing closet doesn't lock. Just wanted to mention this so people who are actually looking for a cabinet with a lock know that my unit does indeed come with a working lock and two keys 😉 Finally, for a DIYer like me, the installation was pretty easy. They included a piece of paper to mark your wall's anchor points, which I was very grateful for as it reduced the amount of measurement and calculation I had to do to place the cabinet directly over my closet. If you've never installed anything like this, you might need help with the basics as the instructions weren't very detailed. It came with all mounting hardware so that's a plus! The only downsides to this jewelry cabinet are: 1) The initial factory smell was very strong. It's gone now, but if you're sensitive to such things, I recommend airing out the closet for a few days or even weeks (depending on your sensitivity) before use. 2) The door does not open fully. I worked carefully to make the hinges open a lot wider than they originally did, but the door still closes almost completely when I'm not holding it. This makes jewelry selection a little annoying, but not enough to deduct a star from my rating. Everything else in this closet is so nice that these cons don't stop me from buying the exact same item again if needed.
