I bought this specifically for use with a surface tablet. Surface only has a USB-C adapter and a headphone/mic jack. As I sometimes work where there is no wireless internet and I often need an extra/large monitor and a wired internet connection and a USB port or two, I decided to give this a try. The docking station is a fairly good size but packed with ports. There are 2 USB 3, 4 USB 2, an HDMI port, a DVI video port, a power adapter, a headphone jack and a separate microphone jack. An external power supply is required and connects to your computer or tablet with a USB-3 port, or if you use the included USB-C adapter you can connect it to any device with a USB-C port and not a traditional one Connect USB 3 ports ports work well as the USB ports. And if you download the DisplayLink driver, you can add up to two additional monitors. The power adapter isn't particularly well designed if your outlets are limited, but that's really the only negative I can find. If you want something more portable, you'll likely have to sacrifice functionality and features. This docking station strikes a good balance of size and features and will definitely add functionality to any laptop or tablet with a USB or USB-C port.
