The stool is delivered folded. Lift the recessed grip and gravity does all the work and it locks into place. the same procedure if you need to fold it again. I was surprised how well the handle fits the design. A little bonus is that the handle is hidden flush with the top when not in use. The hardest part of using it is lifting the chair, it really is that easy. in a big way since it weighs less than a gallon of milk. In terms of build quality, it is better than I imagined from the photos and the price. Finally, I weigh about 200 pounds. usually gets along with me, nothing game. it must therefore be able to bear the higher weight specified in the description. If I needed another one I would buy again without hesitation.
