I've never heard of Wi-Fi adapters and have seen several priced between $60 and $100. I saw this item for less than $20 with great reviews and it works fantastic. I just bought a new house with wireless routers and wireless satellite DVRs. Didn't know I either needed a network for old PCs custom built in the back room so I bought this item, my PC is on the other side of the house from the wifi router and works fine. It's not T1 or T3 speed, but it's better for internet use. Not sure about the download but works fine for standard everyday use.
