This little device has revolutionized food storage. I have it in my garage and I have 2 paper towel holders installed above it with 2 different size Nesco vacuum bags above so I always have access to both sizes. Once sealed, food stays much fresher. We use it for vegetables, herbs (we didn't blanch them, we didn't notice any difference in taste), sauces, soups, individual chicken breasts and ready meals. How to vacuum soup: Pour liquid into the pump hole - When freezing soup, pour it into a bag, being careful not to let the soup get to the edges of the hole. Seal the bag while the soup is still liquid, leaving enough room at the top to cut open and reseal once frozen. This prevents liquid from entering the pump opening. Follow the instructions and keep the front cover closed to keep dust out of the mechanism. This unit has lasted over a year with weekly use and we LOVE it.
