I love that this playpen can be easily folded for storage and expanded with the 3 piece extension or you can even buy another 8 piece playpen or even an 11 piece playpen to add him this . In fact, you can make the playpen as big as you like! I have two 11 bay playpens that connect together for the main ferret playpen and then a smaller 8 bay playpen for them to play outside. The advantage of this playpen is that it can be folded, expanded with additional panels and is also very durable. It's heavy enough that pets can't get under it (at least my ferrets couldn't get out that way!). The bad news is that opening and closing can be a little fiddly, especially if ferrets are about to get out while you're trying to close them. Getting into this arena in a hurry (and securing it behind you) isn't easy. One of my ferrets got stuck and I had to rush to the playpen to help her - the other 3 came running as soon as I opened the playpen and it was almost impossible to get in and secure the playpen without picking it up for a long time. Another problem is that a playpen mat won't work if you don't stick to an eight or eleven piece handle. This can be solved very easily and should not deter buyers, although it will cost the items. I bought a very large groundsheet for the arena floor and it works great. I also put an old camper blanket in there, although blankets or towels will work too. The last negative I have to say about this arena is its height. Of course, my ferrets neither get out nor jump out of this arena. If they don't have help. Unfortunately, this is the main problem of the arena. I had a cardboard box in the center of the playpen about 3 inches high and both my ferrets quickly found that when they stood on it they could jump out of the way and grab the bars. Then they just dragged themselves out of the arena. This is obviously a pretty big problem, but I've looked for alternatives and none of them offer as much extensibility (and the ones that do are neither better nor more secure than this). While I want this pen to be absolutely escape-proof, it's more important to me that my ferrets have a large play area, so I'm willing to put up with the need to keep the door closed when they're in their arena, anyway I carefully put the playpen inside so they couldn't use it to escape.
