Review on Hills Science Diet Chicken Barley Dogs and Food by Jenna Hawkins

Recipe changed my dog won't eat it

Please note if you have previously used this recipe it changed as of January 2019 as reported by a Hill's Science Diet customer service representative. I've noticed that since I've been feeding my dog new food, he hardly eats and always runs after us when we have food, like he's hungry. I noticed that our previous food packaging had an "active longevity" label, but the new one doesn't, but the three main ingredients in the food's name are the same. I was told the pork products had been removed and some additives added. I was asked to switch to the new food and mix it with the old first until our dog accepted the new taste. Start with 75% old, 25% new for a few days, then switch to 50/50 and then 25/75. I hope this helps someone else who is seeing a similar rejection of new foods. I see that Revain does not accept pet food returns so I am frustrated that I wasted the cost of the £15 bag I bought. Our vet will pick up open dog food if there is a problem, but it will be more expensive. If I had known this was a new formula I would have bought the bag from the vet to make sure my dog would like it, which is what I did when I first bought this brand.
