Review on Ultra-Thin Dimmable Industrial Electrical Ceiling Lighting - A Must-Have! by Jamie Denison

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Very nice LED ceiling lights!

Once these lights are installed you will love them. As shown in Figure 1, the 12-inch model produces excellent light and has a very low profile, which is especially nice if you have low ceilings. I give these lights a 5+ for performance and looks and a 3+ for ease of installation. Here are some time-saving installation tips that you won't find in the Hamilton Hills instructions: 1) To install this light, you must first remove the translucent "lens" that covers the LED assembly. To do this, stick two pieces of wide tape along the outer edge of the lens, as shown in Figure 2. To remove the lens, pull the ends of the tape counterclockwise until the lens pops out. Follow the reverse process to reinstall the lens after installing the light. 2) The mounting holes in the LED assembly are spaced 3.5" apart, perfect for an octagonal junction box on the ceiling. If you have a rectangular junction box, the screw holes on the ends of the box are only 3 ¼ inches apart. For rectangular junction boxes, I recommend cutting a 2 x 1 inch piece of blue plastic from the electrical panel and using construction adhesive to attach it to the drywall near one of the short sides of the junction box. After the glue has dried, cut a hole in the plastic for the machine screw so the hole is 3 ½ inches from the screw hole on the opposite short side of the junction box. (I used 1 ¼" drywall screws for assembly.) Alternatively, you can use a metal bracket like the one shown in Figure 3, but in this case the screws included in the installation kit will need to be cut off as the bracket may not fit snugly On Wall. Ceiling (depending on mount design) and the mount must be grounded.3) A large silicone O-ring is included in the installation kit and is required for wet areas such as showers. The O-ring should also be used in dry locations if you want to avoid gaps between the fixture and the ceiling as shown in Figure 4. To hold the o-ring in place while you connect the light to the junction box, use 4 by 6 narrow pieces of masking tape draped over the o-ring and taped to the inside and outside of the bracket, like shown in Figure 5. Once the bracket is installed, you can easily remove the tape by grabbing the tape from the outside and peeling it away from the light; Masking tape will not stick to silicone.

Pros
  • Our ceiling light is made of high quality aluminum alloy and the surface is treated with black powder coating, which makes it more elegant and beautiful. The round design makes your room appear wider and brighter. Best of all, this LED ceiling light has an energy-saving design, making it more environmentally friendly.
