Review on Tagboard Heavyweight Sheets by Pacon PAC5214 by Jessica Moodley

Thickness 0115 inches on a good Mitutoyo digital micrometer with 0

This plate is whiter than the off-white plate used for target printing but not as white as bond paper. Due to the manufacturing process, it is slightly smoother on one side than the other. I print well on the Epson Ecotank printer, although it's quite absorbent so solid colors aren't as deep black as on regular paper, but that's not to be expected. I measured that this paper has a density of 11.5 points, which means 0.0115. Inches thick on a good quality Mitutoyo digital micrometer with a resolution of 0.00005 inches. The measurement is the average of multiple sheets, each measured at multiple points. I had a standard deviation of about 0.0002 inches. I think 11 points was the target specification. Paper thickness can vary by more than this difference. That's about three to four times the thickness of the printing paper. The reference weights vary by paper type as the weight is assumed to be 500 standard size sheets and the standard label sheet size is 24" × 36" while the standard bond/printing paper sheet size is 17" × 22". So each pound weight you get for the label needs to be multiplied by 0.433 to get the bond paper equivalent. But this particular article defied definition by weight. I weighed the sheet and it only weighed about 13.2 grams at 12 inches by 9 inches, or about 190 grams per square meter. This is about 116 pounds for 500 sheets of 24" x 36" or 50 pound bond paper, but 50 pound bond paper is typically 0.008 inches thick. Thus, the thickness of this paper is equivalent to the thickness of 72 lb fine paper. The manufacturing process makes this paper less dense than you would expect from the charts. This may be why the manufacturer does not publish a basis weight number for this product as it may confuse the average user as to its actual thickness.
