Review on Reliable and High Performance Transcend 256GB SDXC/SDHC 300S Memory Card - TS256GSDC300S by Jason Vigil

The best way of everyday life

That's exactly what I like to see when I buy SD cards. No flashy packaging or exaggerated labeling. Simply a well-made device at a good price with equally good performance. I paid $62 for this card which was shipped by Revain and even though the card was shipped *today* the price has already gone up to $75. At the time of writing (January 2020), $62 is a great price for a major brand 512GB SDXC card. Actually the best deal I could find. By the time you're reading this the price will probably be ridiculously high, but for now it's a very solid buy. Be a little on the "flexible" side. (Have you ever inserted an SD card into a slot at a slightly wrong angle and watched it split in half like a Titanic?) However, no plastic case is included, which is hardly a deal breaker but slightly surprising . The CID on my card was verified very well and showed that the manufacturer of this card was in fact Transcend itself - no rebranding here if you're into that sort of thing. By the way, the performance is actually very good. Take a look at the attached CrystalDiskMark results and note that I've already tested the card about three quarters through. All SD cards slow down as you fill them with files; Some of them fall off the cliff and slowly crawl without even filling up. Most people test SD cards when they're completely empty, but what really matters is how they perform when they're full of your junk. This is where the map turns into very respectable figures. (Yes, random writes aren't overly fast, but that's true of almost any SD card, not just this one.) All in all, a very good, solid product that's easily worth its pears.

Pros
  • SD cards
Cons
  • Something different
