Review on Directv 29 Volt Power Inserter for Enhanced SWM8 or SWM16 Multi-Switch Performance by Hector Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good value for money. good for TV and video

There are two (some would say 3) power supplies for DirecTV SWIM systems. The SWIM system built into the LNB assembly typically uses a 21 volt input. A SWIM module with multiple LNB inputs converting it into a single cable (square box with multiple inputs/outputs on the sides that could be SWiM8 or SWiM16) uses a stronger 28/29V input (den I use). peer review). The older versions were closer to 28 volts and the newer ones (this review) closer to 29 volts. BUT. Although I have a system with a SWIM module built into the LNB which normally requires a 21 volt input device, I bought this one (29 volts) due to the length of the cable from the LNB to the input device as well as the cable from the SWIM splitter (SWiM8 ) to the Genie box in the backyard kitchen (about 150 feet). I read about this long-term solution on the obscure 771/775 blog for intermittent errors, but can't find any confirmation from DirecTV or other DIY blogs (e.g. Satellite Guys). So far (3 months) everything is fine.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
