When I first received the backrest, I confess that I had my doubts that it would work. The top hinged window barely reaches the velcro and if you have a smaller pet you won't be able to use the harness. However, my rabbit (Dutch dwarf) fits in perfectly and even has room to lie down or rearrange to look in different directions. The straps are very comfortable and the hip belt makes your pet feel completely secure. If the animal is more active (coughs, jumps, coughs), you may feel that its movements are pulling you a little behind your back. Thanks to the supports, however, you can keep your back straight during these adjustments and continue on your way. I've used it on trails and long walks to give my pet a little more opportunity to explore the world while still having some of their snacks in my pocket. The removable mat inside works as promised, you have to let it dry a bit after cleaning. I'm considering lining it with a puppy mat when we go outside to make cleaning easier. All in all I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a pet carrier as long as you check the dimensions!
