Review on Cafe Du Chateau French Press Coffee Maker - Durable Borosilicate Stainless Steel Coffee Press with Advanced 4-Level Filter - Perfect for Brewing Coffee and Tea - Spacious 34 Oz Glass Carafe Coffee Press by Jason Melvin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great if you love french press coffee.

Coffee Shop, and while it served its purpose when I used pre-ground coffee (I know, I know.), there was always a finer grind that varnished the bottom of my poured cup. The glass was also quite flimsy, and while it never broke, it didn't hold the heat very well, even when I poured a full cup of boiling water into it before brewing. They were also ex-girlfriends of mine so now that I've moved out I need a new coffee maker. Aside from my grandmother's old coffee maker*, this coffee maker makes the best cup of coffee my poor store brand PhD student could ever hope for. The scale at the bottom of the cup is gone, gets completely trapped by the filter when pouring, and the hot water loses a few degrees in the 3 minutes I usually let it soak. The construction is solid, the only thing that bothers me is that there are no oz/mL lines on the side of the glass carafe. I fixed it with a marker and added a line on the lid and even when I first used it I couldn't line up the feed grid with the rim of the press. Overall I would rate this a 4.5 as my only complaints are "I'm not careful and generally lazy". Great product, seems well made and my morning dark roast and evening hazelnut decaffeinated coffee (don't judge!) are delicious. Keep the railroad ties, but it was hers, so it will always have a special place in my heart. If you don't get it, it's probably because your grandma sucked and mine was the best.
