Without getting involved in what I do, I have extensive training in road safety and emergency management/investigation. I had a round previous version and was very disappointed. Thinking they would be better than the previous version, I decided to try them. I have to say I'm disappointed with the light output and construction. Note that they have 4 standard LEDs on each side. The problem is that there's virtually no light output when it's off-axis. This means you won't give much warning unless you point the flat side squarely at oncoming traffic. Basically, LEDs of this type are only directed with a maximum luminous flux when it is directed towards the forehead. Very little side light when you move to the side. When I turned on the light, most of the LEDs were off-center, either at the top or bottom. All should be pointed straight ahead for maximum lighting warning. Remember that when the LED is facing down and you place the puck on the road, the light is not aimed at oncoming traffic. The same applies if it is directed upwards or away from the center. Thus, after changing the position of the LEDs, the luminous efficiency improved. I also angled the outer LEDs slightly on each side so they light slightly off-center for a little extra side warning. Unfortunately, this leaves only 2 LEDs for oncoming traffic. You need at least one or two LEDs in each corner as an extra warning. Upgrading the LEDs to a higher output chip would also improve light output and off-axis warning. Another suggestion is to clearly label the power button so you don't have to fiddle around trying to figure out which button to press in an emergency. Especially if you try to use them quickly and escape from traffic jams and dangers. The photo shows that I took a black marker and marked clearly. Some other suggestions are to switch to AA batteries instead of AAA batteries since AA batteries are one of the most common batteries in the US.
