I bought a size 12/14 for my average height (5ft 1in) and weight (80lbs) at almost 13 and they fit just perfect. The belt is useful for extra help in maintaining the pants. They're a bit long for him, so hopefully he can use them. He used them for camping. He spent about 4 hours straight outside and didn't get cold at all. He said they protect against the cold. He could move easily in it, sit down, stand up, ride. He's worn them four or five times now and they're still holding up well.
