Review on DOKIO Foldable Monocrystalline Inverter Controller by Austin Hampton

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It does something at a maximum of 20% of the listed 200 watts.

Great concept and better than lugging around a panel or two with a strong frame. I get a maximum of 36 watts on the sunniest days alongside my reliable 100 watt panels and flexible 60 watts. All but this panel use 40% of the rated power. This 200w panel always delivers the same performance as any of my individual 100w panels. I have 4 ways to test with 2 different controllers (10A included and real MPPT 30A), inverter. Solar tie back 1000W controller, portable 400W battery in one device and meters. I've tested each of my devices individually and this foldable connection always runs at half the 64W that some have commented on here. So at least half of the panels are down/connected? Half of them perform just under the performance of 100W panels. I'd love to see 6 amps, but I'm actually seeing 2 amps of 18v. With this kind of output, the included 10 amp controller is adequate and disappointing. Some math Volts * Amps = Watts Remember that voltage is always greater than 12, more like 13.4-18.2, the amps you see need to be multiplied by volts to get the watts that the panel produced as VA. One of my displays used a fixed 12 volts DC and 110 volts AC. Still others read that it says less than 70 watts on a 200 watt panel and I've gotten a maximum of 36 watts in the past few weeks. I find it very disappointing that I have to replace it as it is faulty, delivers only half of what others get, but after replacement it should match the performance percentage of my other devices listed on the panel. So my block is only half working and should match two of my fixed plates after replacement, not just what this folding block does today. I believe that after replacing it will reach the characteristics of my other solar panels. Three stars because it is half working and needs to be replaced. After the replacement I expect to have around 6% left under the fixed and foldable panels I already have. If I ever see more than 100 watts from this unit in Massachusetts at the optimal angle in direct sunlight, I'll update this review.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
