Review on 🐱 Premium Cat Scratching Pad: All-Natural Sisal Rug for Cats to Scratch, Mat with Scratch Pads and Cat Scratcher Rope by Alexandra Johnson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Too flexible for a kitty to scratch this mat well

My cat attacked the mat as soon as I removed the plastic. I thought; "Great! She likes it!" But she's ignored it ever since. The rug still doesn't lay flat, so I tuck a long edge under the closet door to keep it from rolling again. She tries to scratch him but he won't stay on the ground, he follows her paw up and down the tiles so she goes nuts when the carpet slips under her and takes off at full speed. Send the mat the other way. Entertainment factor: 10. Scratch efficiency; 1. I'm tempted to nail/screw a rug to a piece of plywood so she can buy something without flapping in the wind, but that's a trip to the hardware store and probably won't happen anytime soon. I could have screwed it to the wall, but my husband immediately vetoed it. bottom line? If you can make the mat more stable by screwing it to something, it will probably get a lot of use. I tried the construction stapler with the previous wall mat and our cat immediately ripped it off, scratching vigorously. I had to use screws. This mat is small - if I wanted one for a project it's perfect for screwing onto plywood or 2x4 to create a scratching post, but it's a little problematic on its own.
