Review on Edifier R1280DB Wireless Studio Monitors - Powered Bluetooth Bookshelf Speakers with Optical Input - 4 Inch Near Field Speaker - Enhanced Wooden Grain Finish - 42w RMS by Minoru Koshida ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Quality is top notch, happy with everything.

How I decided to use these speakers: they cost a TV and are connected to it via RCA (watching movies and playing is 100 times more pleasant than the sound from TV), the second RCA is connected via Jack to Alice Mini (I sometimes ask her to turn on the music) , and also switch to BT when I want to play music from my phone. And switching occurs by pressing one button on the remote control (but you can also press the volume control on the speaker itself). I definitely recommend these speakers for anyone who wants a simple and very versatile way to get sound in the first place. I would buy them even if they cost 30-40% more. I needed a device that would cover all 3 of my sound sources. I would love to buy speakers and 2 times more expensive with more sound detail, a wider stage and a more even frequency response, but only on the condition that all the little things and convenient sides, like these, are also in place. But there were simply no such ones (more expensive models from the same company have a larger volume margin, a larger size, an older BT, but the sound did not differ much).

Pros
  • - Great sound in this budget! Here you need to understand that these are not monitors, not audiophile speakers, but rather budget ones with a bunch of additional goodies. We listened and compared these speakers with another model for a similar price and a Harman Kardon wireless speaker for 16,000. So for everyone there was not even a question which one to choose! These two small speakers produced a voluminous pleasant musical sound with minimal distortion. The stereo panorama felt great. The speakers have the ability to adjust the bass and treble, so after I added a little of both, the sound became just perfect. - Sufficient volume for the apartment (for me, even with a strong margin, I don’t understand at all how they write under 60W speakers that it’s enough for a 15m2 room . speakers turned on at 40W are just perfectly audible from two neighbors .) - Convenient control using the remote control (change the connection source in one click, control tracks via bluetooth, change the volume, mute mode and turn off) - Many connectors (2 rca, optical, coax) - Ability to connect via Bluetooth (Version 5) - On the front panel, the LED color shows which source is currently connected - blue LED for BT, red for optics and coax, green for linear, and in silent mode, the LED blinks) - All necessary cables included (optics, rca to rca, rca to jack, speaker cable to connect a second speaker) - Small size and nice design (you can remove the front protection with acoustic cloth) - Phase inverter in front (can be placed close to the wall) - Ability to connect a subwoofer
Cons
  • The only negative that I can think of is a strange additional mode that can be turned on from the remote control. With it, the sound becomes instantly flat, ringing, rough and louder, killing all the pleasant enveloping volume. I don't understand its meaning at all. But I don’t turn it on, so I’m ok :)
