Recommended for newborn mothers

I had a baby a year and a half ago. Back then, I ordered some fabric nursing pads to save money and reduce our impact on the planet. Well none of them worked. They were either leaking, itchy, didn't wash/dry well, or had some other problem that rendered them unusable. Many exchanges and returns have been made. Fast forward to 2018 when my third child was born a month ago. This time I wanted to be prepared and opted for nursing pads that wouldn't make me so miserable. Taking care of a newborn is quite difficult, I also have to take care of a one year old baby. I didn't want something as small as a nursing pillow to add to my daily worries so I ordered these after reading the reviews. They work great (Editor)! I have always experienced obesity and severe/serious lack of energy while breastfeeding. If I lean to one side, the floodgates just open on the other side. They held and absorbed milk so incredibly well that I only had to change pads once a day. Sometimes twice a day. Compared to my reusable pads a year ago which I had to change every time I fed. If you're a breastfeeding mom, you know there's an average of at least 10 meals a day between newborn feeding and group feeding. So I was very impressed with the ability of these pads to hold and absorb all of my milk without feeling too wet. Second, I really liked the feel of these pads. They are quite soft for fleece pads. I always have tenderness and pain when I start breastfeeding for the first and second week. These pads didn't hurt, chafe or irritate me while I applied my Honest Nipple Balm (highly recommend it for moms struggling with cracked/sore nipples btw!) and allowed my nipples to heal within a day or two . The only reason I docked the star is because I went through these pads in about a month. I bought a set of 120 which is actually 60 as nobody uses just one pad on one side lol. So changing twice a day, I ran out pretty quickly. On rare occasions I forgot to change my nursing pads that day, on average those were days where I had to change 3 times because I lost one while breastfeeding or something. As great as they were, I just couldn't justify spending $30 every month just on disposable nursing pads. I mean, that's three Netflix subscriptions a month! I've since bought organic reusable nursing pads and they fit me perfectly. Not as good as these, I have to change them 3-4 times a day and they aren't as soft, but the tradeoff between saving money and reducing waste is worth the effort for me. If, like me, you use cloth diapers for your babies, use your mother's discharge pads, etc., then it's easy to toss cloth nursing pads in the wash with one of them. It doesn't become a separate thing to worry about. If not, then use these nursing pads to keep your sanity. If I had to redo them for my next baby I would buy them again and recommend them for the first few weeks and/or month after birth. Moms don't get enough sleep and have more things to do than usual. On top of that, there's the nursing of the newborn, dealing with swollen and painful mammary glands (maybe even a blocked duct or two) while the milk is initially flowing and still being regulated. Yes I would make things easier if I get that. These are the little joys in life :)

Pros
  • 100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEE. You will love these pads. It's much better than using silicone, cloth, bamboo, gel pads, honeycomb spiked pads or reusable cotton pads that don't come in individual packages. We promise: LOVE these Hey Mama Pads or get your money back.
Cons
  • The string is shorter than other picks
