Let me tell you first. phew, price. big. Very big for a big wheel. So we decided to buy a Junior Big Wheel for our 2 year old grandson. Almost $200 for the original is a suggested retail price that borders on awesome. I can't even imagine spending that much on a plastic foot pedal trike! I missed something from the early 70's when I was a kid obsessed with only getting 2 things for birthday and Christmas - first was Big Wheel and second was hippie hop! I mean, back then we all had big wheels and as I got older and when we all started getting married and having kids, whenever there was a birthday party, the big wheel was my favorite gift. boy or girl. Then in the early to mid 90's our kids had them, but as far as I can remember I can't remember them being that expensive! Obviously I must have missed something in the last 15-20 years right? Have they been banned, declared illegal, declared endangered only to recover and be declared cool again and worth their weight in gold? LOL The assembly required is borderline torture anyway, and the plastic pedals were SO difficult to put on! Oh my god, using a hammer to make them slide over metal and snap into place is probably not the best idea for civilians. Of course we wouldn't knock that crap out with a hammer, but as the diagram shows, it takes a couple of hits or more pretty quickly, and then part of the plastic pedal breaks when it finally engages. FYI, the pedal didn't break where you hit it with a hammer. Its center is broken where the metal bars run. I'd assume it was our fault if it was just one of the pedals, but both did the same thing in the same places. I love big bikes and I have such vivid childhood memories of riding sidewalks, racing and always trying to do the cool brake twists and moves that were advertised. LOL Everyone had these and they stuck these things in the ground, the plastic tires were worn out and thinner in the middle, they had holes and big ruts but it didn't matter. It was the ferris wheel, the coolest thing ever made for kids. There was never a dull moment with them and they were always sooooo much fun. I would probably drive one today if I could still fit on it lol
