Review on ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ Honeywell Small White/Silver 2-Speed Personal Fan for Better Air Circulation and Cooling by Marisa Lynn

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good fan, vibration can cause movement, can fall off the table and break

I had four of them. If the plastic of the front grille is of good quality, they are good fans. I'm a fan haha I can take them apart for cleaning, although it's a little tricky. They pump a lot of air. I don't think they're good for $20, you can get a box fan for that price or less that pushes a lot more air. Vibration noise on hard surfaces. And also a cushion can help keep it in place on smooth surfaces, it tends to slip from vibration and fall off tables and shelves. This can cause it to break, which is disappointing. I bought the first of these fans and then gifted it to a roommate when I moved abroad. This fan was pretty solid, it fell a few times and my roommate tripped over the cord and threw it off. He kept licking and ticking. I really regret giving it away. I figured it would be less of a hassle and cheaper to sell or get rid of everything and then buy it back when I arrive at the new location. Since then I've realized that if things are good and working, it's better to leave them alone. More often than not, the quality of many things has gone down while the price has stayed the same or gone up. Manufacturers use fewer or cheaper materials and have inconsistent quality control, but charge the same or higher fees. The price of these fans has increased. And quality can be fickle, I think quality is very important to this fan as he tends to act like a lemming. The first and second cost $15 or less, the third $18, and the fourth $19. On the second one I bought I noticed the front grille had a few cracks for some reason, I think it broke soon after. I don't know if these breaks happened before I received it or after I thought it broke in the fall. Did I mention these fans can move and fall off the shelves due to vibration? The third one I bought was good and still works. It fell off shelves or tables and was thrown onto the wooden floor. I've mastered placement and padding so this doesn't happen anymore. It seems as impenetrable as the first fan. The fourth one I bought 3 months ago noticed a loud noise yesterday and saw the plastic holding the motor to the front grille crack on one side causing the fan blades to move down and start cleaning the grille. Due to the weight of the motor and the vibration I don't think it can be repaired, something like gorilla glue probably won't hold it together. I'm disappointed. It's not easy to find a fan that can be disassembled and reassembled for cleaning, that is relatively quiet and pushes out just enough air for a fan of this size and doesn't knock over tables and shelves, I think. So I think this fan is doing 3 out of 4 things right. The front grille plastic is problematic, some are good, others were weak. This is the part of the fan that comes in a variety of colors, it also holds the motor and fan blades so if it breaks the fan can become unusable. The rest of the fan is the same color so I think it's easier to keep the quality consistent. One fan with a gray front grille was fine, the next one with a gray front grille broke. So I don't think it's the color of the plastic. Perhaps because the color changes, although batches may not be of consistent quality.
