Great Filter Simple But Effective Well Made Comes with carbon cartridge AND coarse foam filter media. Two water tanks are already filled with filter material! I also added some more filter material to the midsection and it works great. The inlet wasn't long enough to reach the bottom of my 46 gallon tank so I added a pipe to extend it all the way. I also added a sponge filter to the end of the air intake for even more filtration efficiency. Another mod was to add a homemade filter diffuser. This happens in my hatchery/shrimp tank, otherwise the waterfall would be too strong. With all these modifications, the filter works really great. Now I was expecting to have to do these modifications with every HOB filter I have, so it doesn't matter. This filter has a flow regulator - and it works - but I'll never use it because I need time. It also comes with a skimmer, but I don't need that feature in my freshwater aquarium. The filter is very quiet, especially after installing the diffuser.Very
