Review on ๐Ÿฑ BERTASCHE Cat Carrier: Expandable & Foldable Airline Approved Pet Carrier for Small Dogs & Cats, Ideal for Travel by Alisa Romero

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Dangerous design flaw! ATTENTION see below!

ATTENTION โš ๏ธ โš ๏ธ ATTENTION! Don't leave your cat unattended in this unfolded carrier! I was going to give this carrier 5 stars but unfortunately it put my cat in DANGER! On a 6 day cross country trip my friend and I took him in a van next to me in the passenger seat strapped to the front of a 3 seater truck. The carrier could be folded out and I liked that option because it could see from all angles and was pretty quiet the whole ride. Unfortunately, by day 6, it burrowed in (which cats do) and stuck its head in the corner where one of the ends was bent. I loved that the stretcher had the whole room unfolded and even one side opened up in the car, but that's a serious downside: once unfolded, there were huge holes in every corner. The design of the corners after expansion is small OPEN holes, which each cat can easily put its head through, but not easy to withdraw. I tried uploading the video as a 10 second clip (although this took several minutes while we made sure he didn't panic or choke) and hopefully you'll see it. I tried to find the seller/brand contact information but couldn't find it. > :( The grille isn't very strong anymore and folds easily - so it's a big design flaw that once deployed there isn't a grille covering the corners. He caught his head when we were in the car, and had to do an emergency stop at a gas station/car dealership to get the scissors to help him!I stayed with him while my friend ran to get the scissors - and it's not a one man job, one Getting cat out when stuck! When you are alone this crate is also more dangerous My cat is NOT small - Very long Siamese cats - so small cats are particularly vulnerable! You should fix this in the design. If it weren't for the scissors to cut a part cutting out the lining at a thicker angle - he might hurt himself when he pushes off. Very dangerous! Not strong either and the pillow is very hard (I added a blanket and shirt and a stuffed cat toy for comfort). r cheap zippers, so there is also danger for the curious cat. Also dangerous for a small dog if its muzzle is pinched. It was a horrible experience and I really hope they reconsider the design of the corners - I don't see why the mesh can't be in the corners as well and still be able to fold/zip/unzip it. Luckily we never left him alone in the stroller, but if you have one make sure it's fully closed when you're not around. We also removed his collar just prior to this incident and are glad we did as it could have been a major choking hazard if he got stuck. It was a horrible ordeal and took at least 4 minutes to help him break free. Unfortunately I can't give a better rating as I was pleased with how well he adjusted (we also crated him a good 2 weeks before moving) but there were safety concerns as frightening. and unacceptable. I'm a huge animal lover and I don't want anyone else to hurt their dog/cat so stay away/be very careful until they fix this design! 2 stars because many of them are well designed. but this defect in the corners MUST be fixed. Huge danger.
