It's okay. It's not perfect, but it's okay. Egg cups are definitely egg cups and the scoops are the right size, but an egg slicer requires quite a bit of force to make it work. It has a sort of spring action so you can lift the top all the way up and release, and a ring-shaped crack forms in the top of the egg so you can lift the top of the shell. It works, but you REALLY have to pull it back so it hits the egg pretty hard! I expected it to be much easier to use. If you do this carefully, you'll be disappointed - you really have to pull the plunger up and make it click hard. (The first few times I was extremely disappointed.) On the other hand, it doesn't leave behind sharp shell fragments like jagged-toothed egg slicers. One caveat: this works better with the big side of the egg, not the smaller side.
