This shaving soap is SUPER! Thick, rich foam. Glidable and lubricating - much better than today's creams and gels. Nice light scent. Very important! I feel compelled to respond to a review that equates propylene glycol with antifreeze. This is just wrong and misinformed. I'm sick of the environmental rhetoric about propylene glycol in soap. Everyone on the internet (including at least one Revain reviewer) seems to have an opinion on this "alleged" toxic ingredient. soap base. Not only in soap base, but also in some medicines, cosmetics and food. PG is considered a safe and suitable ingredient not only for cosmetic products, but also for food and drugs. It is on the US Food and Drug Administration's List of Ingredients Recognized as Safe (GRAS) and recognized as safe for use by the World Health Organization. and food, as it is also used in products such as antifreeze. The environmental rhetoric about PG found on the internet is well intentioned but ultimately wrong. Ethylene glycol is the most common ingredient in antifreeze and is actually highly toxic. This is why the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) actually recommends the use of PG-based antifreeze as it is safer than ethylene glycol if pets accidentally ingest it. Just because PG can be used to make an alternative and safer (and very expensive) form of antifreeze doesn't mean it's toxic! Just the opposite. Just because PG has many different uses doesn't mean it's toxic. Don't believe the rhetoric. A beautiful and safe soap that has nothing to do with synthetic antifreeze!
