In general I am very satisfied with this radio. The main requirement was high tuner performance, especially for AM/FM reception. From that point of view, this is simply the best of any radio I have. I use this radio in a shop where it is tuned to the same station 99% of the time. I wanted the audio to override ambient noise without expecting the audio to be heard through power tools. In that regard, it works great. The station I want to listen to is a lower power station with some stronger signals in range. The radio I swap out switches between three different stations depending on the weather, time of day, or whatever. The other radio I tested only picked up the station with the antenna fully extended and correctly positioned. Even when the antenna is fully retracted, this radio receives a station perfectly. However, there are a few things to consider if your usage differs from mine. - The volume control on my particular device has almost no volume control. It takes about 5 points of movement on the volume slider from off to on, and it's fairly loud at this level, perhaps too loud for an office environment. - Band selector bars are very light. I had no trouble switching bands, but sometimes it's hard to tell if you've made changes other than hearing the audio change. Since I rarely change channels, it doesn't really impact my usage. - It has a digital tuning display but uses an analogue tuner with a knob common to all bands. This means that if you tune into an AM station and switch the band to FM, you must turn the knob to tune to the new station, which will also change the AM tuning. So if you switch back to AM, you need to tune in to that station again. One effect of this type of adjustment is that the digital display can change for a given adjustment. For example, if I set it to 96.7 and turn the radio off, when I turn it back on the display might show it's set to 96.8. Luckily, the setting hasn't changed, so the station is still on. Another consequence of this is the lack of available presets. Since I rarely change channels, it doesn't really impact my usage. - If you turn off the power for even a few seconds without batteries installed, the clock will lose time. - The frequency stays the same when you turn off the device, so you don't have to worry about finding your station again.
