We play a lot of Rummikub and the old "painted" tiles wear out quickly from friction and handling. We changed them several times. I didn't want to take the recessed tiles because I was afraid that when we pulled them out of the bag we would "cheat" and "feel" the number. Actually it wasn't a problem. These tiles are durable and will last forever. The trays also hold the tiles more securely. The tin can is neither a plus nor a minus in my opinion, but we use it to store the kit and it certainly doesn't wear out like a cardboard box.
