We are very pleased with this set. The quality of the pieces and board is excellent for the money. We are using it both at home, and while we travel since the wooden pieces are protected in individual spaces in the bottom of the board, which folds up nicely to transport. Even though the board is hinged in the center, when playing it lies flat and there is no ridge or gap in the board. The detail on the board is nice also. This was purchased for my elementary age children to learn to play chess with. I was looking for a modestly priced set that was still made of wood and had a nice feel to the pieces, and this has been wonderful! The molded storage inside the board is great for keeping track of the chessmen whenever my kids move the board. It’s very well made for the price, and fun to play with!

After binging The Queen's Gambit, my girlfriend and I wanted to get a board of our own. We played when we were children, and it's fun to relearn the game together. The pieces themselves are good quality. One knight has a bubble underneath it, but it was an easy fix. The case makes it easy to store, although, if we didn't have cats we would probably just leave the board set up on our coffee table.I highly recommend!

This chess set is great for all ages. Church! The whole family has gotten into playing. Even my distant moody 19 year old son. As well as my socially awkward 13 year old daughter. I mean, truth be told, my 5 year old son that has a tendency to spontaneously dance and rap even enjoyed it.

My son is 6 years old and he wanted to play chess. I ordered this as it had some good reviews and also had storage for the coins. The quality of the board and coins are great. The only issue I felt was the felt on bottom of the coins come off when we insert or take out the coins but it was not a big deal as we were able to glue it again. I ordered this for my 10 year old son to practice at home. He is on the UIL chess team at his school. I was very satisfied with the look. The only issue I had was that a screw came out of the latch on the first day of having it and we couldn’t find it. Now, we have a chess set that won’t latch.

We actually just took this out of the box the other night to play. It was a gift for my husband who is now teaching me how to play chess. He was surprised by the nice piece holder inside the game board! So far it is working out great!

I want to teach my 9 year old grandson to play chess. I spent several hours researching beginners chess set. This seemed to be the best to fit my need. WRONG! The board does not lay flat. The hinges are simply pieces of felt and the board does not open evenly. All pieces will have to jump over a raised crack to get to the other half. Very disappointed.

This is a great chess set! Good looking enough to leave out as a high class decorative piece as well as enjoyable to play with. Nice size and weight, it is not cheap or flimsy. It has beautifully crafted figures, and board! The case is gorgeous and sturdy for storage and gifting. You would be proud to give this as a gift, although I bought it just for me. I love it!

I love the convenience of this set. So compact and easy to use. The only thing I don’t like is that the felt on the bottom of a few pieces are off center. It makes them a little uneven on the board. The pieces are made of a really light wood, the box/board is also a really light wood. Because of that, it probably wouldn’t be a good set to play with outdoors since one gust of wind would blow your pieces away. I also would highly discourage dropping this, it seems like it would break/chip easily.

I ordered this for my brother for his birthday because my sister has one similar to it that he loves. I like the fact that this one has inserts where you can put the pieces back instead of them rattling around inside the box. You have everything you need in one place, making it easy to transport and easy to keep up with the pieces. The wooden board and pieces are nice, especially for this price point.

This is a quality product. Handsome and sturdy. My kids have shown an interest in chess and this will make their Christmas morning. The magnets are strong and looking forward to playing in the car.

Man these gotta be the most horrible bishops I’ve ever seen! I could look past the board being misaligned in the middle and the fake look of the "wooden” pieces but holy cow. Wtf?

It is a good size and we thoroughly enjoy it. We were inspired after watching the Queens Gambit on Netflix. The wood is not very refined.

This is a good entry level set for my 9 yr old. But the wood pieces are poorly craved and cheap looking for a wood set. This will end up on goodwill on a few years as I will need to buy a better set
