Review on 🖨️ Efficiently Digitize Documents with Fujitsu ScanSnap fi-5110EOX Sheet-Fed Scanner and Automatic Document Feeder by Tylin Meyer

This VW Beetle from the world of scanning is tiny and toy but great. When archiving an extremely large number of documents of different conditions and sizes, I was pleasantly surprised that this scanner scans the entire page to the edge, which is very important when scanning materials with marginal notes. Easily handles smaller paper (but wide documents won't fit in the 8.5" wide feeder). I was also impressed that Blank Page Detection intelligently ignores staple holes or other binding marks on blank pages. Automatic color detection is sometimes tricked into scanning in color by old paper or coffee stains, but coffee is color after all. The paper's path is very straight (slides top to bottom) so it's easy to open and remove the sheets if the paper ever gets stuck (as is the case when you try to thread cardboard through without to bend it). Includes Adobe Acrobat. Addendum to my review: I still like it, but I have three criticisms: Best to just set it to "Black&White" and be aware that the black-and-white images it captures have high contrast. . If you want to capture grayscale, you still need a flatbed scanner. So I did most of my scans with this Fujitsu, putting aside things that required more careful work with the tablet. It really saved time. Second, the color accuracy of this scanner is exceptionally poor - good enough to capture, for example, a bright red "VOID" stamp on a form, but not good enough for anything that requires nuanced color. An optional software "deskew" feature, which is sometimes useful for straightening poorly printed pages, only works on pages that are completely filled with text. In fact, any side with large open spaces, such as a title page or a one-paragraph page, worse if this option is enabled. A perfectly printed (but short) page will skew up to 5 degrees when the Deskew option is enabled. This is obviously a software limitation that they need to fix. In retrospect, this is an excellent high-contrast black and white scanner that will greatly reduce the need for a traditional flatbed scanner, but will not completely replace it.
