The first time my 11 year old daughter used it for about 10 minutes with no problems. The second time, however, I plugged it in and poured water and sent her to something else until the water got warm. When she came back the light was off and we checked the plug, socket etc. It didn't work at all. I picked it up to pour out the water and noticed it burned through the carpet under the footbath. I turned the foot bath upside down and saw the charred plastic. We unscrewed the small panel and saw that the rubber hoses and hose connectors that allow the water to circulate go right where the wires are twisted together and that spot was wet. What a bad design. We can only assume that there was an electrical charge in the water at the time of the short circuit. Luckily my daughter's feet weren't submerged in the water at the time.
