I'm so happy my seven died that good Mad Catz has returned. I've held off during the turbulence and other models but I feel like they're really back with solid products. Like others, I bought the RAT7 and then the RAT5 for all other computers because I was agonized over getting the exact clutch I liked. That sensor too: 16,000 dpi on a MUCH better sensor compared to a 6400 dpi sensor, kinda weird. Everything was "good" on my 7-ke, but many others had serious problems. Right out of the box it's physically the same as the RAT7 with the same add-ons, so you can go back to the same setup. On the palmrest adapter with 7 I used an additional (non-rubberized) adapter which I remember was great. I tried the standard 8+ and thought it was good, but I know I used a different one so I gave it a try here. Raised for 8+ is much taller so I use the main cable that came installed with it (no rubber and there is a cord running through). I think I'm just saying that the standard for 8+ is the increased value for RAT7. I see that extra lifted weight for 8+ is more useful for some. Another difference I noticed was that the 8+ only has 3 weights installed, while my 7 had all 5 installed. If you still have the old unit, keep it for parts I think. I adjusted my DPI to the same as the old one and it still felt a little off. Added 2 weights, back to feel. That little thing is so important to some of us. Right now I like RGB and I'm not a light guy at all and I think that doesn't make the hardware "gamer friendly", it's just the backlight. It's a mouse, your hand is on it, and you really just need to see what DPI mode it's in at a glance. But that's fine, and you can at least choose your colors or just turn it off. Kudos to this option for those who just HATE the new RGB trend. The strange error I encountered during the installation is that the settings link in windows 10 pro 64 is not set correctly. I mean they are hosted on your computer. but they cannot be searched and they are not in the start list. The link it puts on your desktop, with no option to not put it on a new line, is a way to access all the good stuff. You "can" pin it to the top, but I don't need it there. It's more like Win10 and not Madcatz. But it needs to be installed as a program. Buy it, it's cool and I'm happy. If you get it, try 16,000 dpi mode. "What the heck, no one needs...uh...Korea and Star Craft? I have no idea. It's too much for FPS and could be perfect for 6 screens which I have no idea.
