The Ovente 1.5 liter kettle exceeded my expectations. Our old kurig only served as a hot water source for tea and a coffee bag. When it finally stopped working, we bought Ovente. It heats up pretty quickly, obviously the less water you start the faster it heats up to a roaring simmer, and I mean bubbling simmer. Heats up very well. The automatic shutdown works very well and stably. There is only one on/off button and it is very easy to operate by holding the handle. You want it to turn off when you remove the pot or put it back on the base. Some reviewers noted that it smelled like hot plastic. I genuinely believe they are wrong and the source of the smell is the hot water and minerals. Mineral scale from the water will settle on the stainless steel base but is EASY to remove with regular white vinegar. Pour about 1/3 cup (or more) vinegar into an empty saucepan, turn on and off for about 15 SECONDS. Leave on for a few minutes, then rinse well. Ready to go. The base is very solid and the kettle is easy to put on. The blue LEDs are pretty cool and you can tell right away that they're on. Definitely worth the price!
