For some reason the side mirrors on Volvo models wobble strangely and then just fall off, luckily for me when I stop and not fly on the highway. So you have a couple of options: glue the mirror back onto the base plate first and worry if it happens again, or just slide the plate out and put in the new OEM mirror and plate. as a whole. For my passenger side, I did the latter for a perfectly reasonable $50, but decided to try this wide angle mirror when it was on my driver's side. First I was attracted by the price, about a third of the OEM. Also intriguing was the idea of having a much broader view than the original. It turns out to work completely as advertised. Pretty surprised from what I'm seeing on multiple lanes, but you could actually use a "closer than it seems" notation on the passenger side, for example. The other end, denoted by the dotted line, gives you a little more field of view but still has a slight "funny home mirror" effect. If I keep my S80 for another ten years or so I'll probably buy another one or two, but at this price I really don't mind!
