I bought this unit based on a consumer report rating of Blue Air products. This is the top rated brand and priced comparable to the competition in my opinion. I also read a lot of customer reviews before buying. I've been using this device in my living room for about a week and it's probably too early to tell if it's helping my allergies. I have both seasonal and winter allergies (dandruff, dust, etc) when the house is closed. I live in southwest Montana so the house is closed like a drum all winter. We also use wood heating because of the low cost. A few years ago I noticed changes in my breathing every winter, I was diagnosed with asthma and now I'm pregnant so I can't take the usual medications that help. I'm stuck on Tylenol and other decongestants that are safe but not as effective as I'm used to. Basically I have an inhaler and a combination of childproof things that don't work well. I'm so desperate for relief that I just spent almost $1,000 on air purifiers, special bedding, etc. to try and get some relief. I primarily deal with sinus headaches, postnasal drip, constant coughing to clear my throat and chest, and sneezing. Lots of sneezing. I sneeze and cough less now, but correlation doesn't prove causality, although there is hope! In terms of noise, literally 0 reviews helped me estimate the actual noise level to be expected. While even Consumer Reports berated this high-speed device for being noisy, it did the same for almost every other device, so obviously it's a "thing" you'll have to live with. The most useful thing for me would be if someone used different sounds to compare for each speed, which I will do. Low: Indistinguishable, especially during waking hours and normal everyday noises. It's basically quiet in every way, I can't even imagine it being that quiet. I'll probably start running it on low after it's been stable on medium 24 hours a day for about a week. We're building indoors, so there's a lot of dust in the air. Medium: Seriously, my microwave is louder than this unit. Imagine an oscillating fan running at low speeds. You can hear it, but it's not distracting in any way. Honestly, when I'm working, he disappears. I finish my term paper in the living room and the module is in the dining room and I faint easily. Hai: Yes, you will hear it. It sounds like a big fan of old boxes to me. What yes. it is basically like this. However, unless you're like me and you're lighting something in the kitchen, I can't think of a reason to turn it on full blast. It would probably make sense to air something up high or get rid of the pungent odor quickly. Otherwise I can't imagine it going like this. If you find yourself in an area of high fire activity during the summer, I'm sure the relief it brings will be worth it. We've had our fair share of fires here and I think by then I'll know if I have to run it at high speed. In terms of efficiency, if you walk past the device when it is on the middle tier, you can feel the air moving. the whole unit. I take this as a sign that it's working, sucking in air while expelling clean air. This device is incredibly easy to set up. The filters are already installed, all you have to do is connect them. If you don't want to use the app right away, you can boot the device with hidden controls. I installed my device on my phone with no problems and it seems to be working fine. It's big, prepare to make room for it. The casters are very easy to roll, and the device is not too heavy but also uncomfortable. I'm sure I'll find a good hiding spot for him once we're done with the repairs. You cannot put anything on it as it is part of the ventilation system. As I said, I'm still waiting to see if my breathing improves, but for now I'm encouraged. We live in an early 80's house, we heat with wood all winter, the air here is notoriously dry in winter, and we have two dogs that live outside and inside. One is a hypoallergenic poodle and the other is a slightly neurotic skinning monster, also known as a mini Aussie. The house can have moisture issues in our master bedroom and bathroom during the winter when it is closed and we try to manage this as best we can. However, it would not surprise me if mold sometimes develops in winter. I have never had an allergy to animals in the past and have not been diagnosed with anything other than seasonal allergies and winter issues. We didn't have any odor issues as mentioned in other reviews. Perhaps there is something in your home that is reacting with the activated carbon filters and creating an odor? It's hard to say, but I'm grateful we don't have any odor issues in our device. Hope this review is helpful!
