Review on Shop Fox W1741S 8-Inch Jointer With Spiral Cutterhead by Terry Myers
Spiral cutter is best
I bought this 18 months ago as an upgrade to a 6" jointer with standard knives. I looked at quite a few other brands and picked Shop Fox for the price, positive reviews, the number of cutters on the head and built in mobile base. This machine does an excellent job flattening boards and jointing edges. It cuts very smooth and accurately and glue-ups are much improved over my old machine.
- Deluxe cast iron fence size: 35-Inch L by 1-1/4-Inch W by 5-Inch H
- While the spiral cutterhead design is great for reducing noise and creating a smoother finish, it requires more maintenance than traditional cutterheads. If you're not up for cleaning the blades regularly, this jointer may not be the best option for you
