I used them to hang a rather heavy tapestry rug on the wall. The tapestry is 5 feet high, 7 feet wide and about 1/2 inch thick. These clips, spaced about 15 inches apart, hold it perfectly. The clamps are designed to attach to a 1" square bar. Instead, I used a hole to screw them into the top tree. At first I thought they might not open wide enough for such a thick rug, but after a bit of persuasion (and I opened a few of them slightly), they opened up immediately. They can also be worn from one end on the carpet. These are the same clips they use at our local carpet shop. I tried to buy some there but they sold out so I checked them out and found the same one here at Revain.
