For comparison, this replaces the ancient comb brush that was really nasty. I love this replacement for my straight thin hair. (a lot, but thin strands). It captures blow length well and makes a good root blow. The ceramic absorbs drier heat for a smoother finish. I did not test it on torture - the hair combs quite easily and dries quickly. But if you are looking for a good brush that lifts the roots, I would definitely try this one. You'll still need a natural bristle brush for ponytails and the like, but that's the nature of this style of brush in general.
