Review on πŸ“» Compact Kensington Pico FM Transmitter - iPod 5G & Nano Compatible (Black) by Kenji Townsend

Wireless but not the best bang for the buck

Wireless was the reason I bought this transmitter for my iPod nano but it just does NOT work like another transmitter I have purchased that plugs into a 12 volt cigarette lighter socket for power use (and charge the iPod). ). It seems that since the Kensington transmitter is battery powered by the iPod, it doesn't have the same signal gain as my iTrip 12V. It's not that it doesn't work, you just have to find the right spot in the car (next to the antenna or radio) that works best. Same goes for my 12v transmitter, it's just not as finicky/less location sensitive. Also, I get about 4 or 5 hours of music playback with this wireless device before the iPod dies. It cannot be charged while playing, which means it has a short duration. An advantage would be if you want to bring a boombox to the park (useless 12v source). You can play from the iPod to the Boombox (or any radio). BUT - if you'll be using it primarily in the car, do yourself a favor and get a $30-$50 12v transmitter from iTrip or Monster. simply better battery life (also charges) and signal performance.
