Although it comes without instructions I was able to find out and it's a very good product. Instructions would be nice because it's not obvious what needs to be done, but there's only one way this can work and if you think about it long enough, you'll be fine. It costs more than a magnet, but I can see why - it's a lot of carefully constructed thick metal. This is essential if your door opens inwards on the same side as the magnet. The magnet attaches to a rosette above the door and this bracket holds the anchor plate. I first had to attach a piece of wood to the door so that the mounting surface was level with a pad that had a magnet on it. The weight of it on my door loosened my door hinges but after tightening the screws on my hinges everything lined up and has been working fine for over a month now.
