Review on πŸ”Œ Mahr Federal 4102357 16 EXU USB Data Cable: The Complete Package with Marcom Standard by Ralph Foster

Data memory is worth every cent

If you carry out a lot of measurements and enter values manually in a spreadsheet or other software, you should definitely get this cable. It works flawlessly and the MarCom Professional software is now available as a free download from the Mahr website. The software is a bit confusing at first, but its functionality is excellent. You can enter values directly into an Excel spreadsheet (and watch the values appear when you click a button), and you can set it to automatically jump to new rows/columns after a certain number of measurements . For example, I have a table with length, width, and height measurements that wrap to a new row after the third dimension. You can also have the program emulate a keyboard and it just types in a value and press Enter (or whatever you choose). This allows you to paste values into MS Word, a text file, or any program that accepts keyboard input. If you don't want to press the physical button on the cable to start reading, you can assign a key on your keyboard (F1-F12, PgUp, or PgDn) to request a value from the caliper. Both ways work great. The software is very flexible and once you get used to it, it can handle almost any use case. My only criticism of the cable itself is that the knob is a bit small and quite tight. I hope it breaks after long-term use.
