Will not work for streetlights

Every year before Christmas we celebrate the Night of Lights when we line the sidewalks with white paper bags weighted down with sand or bird seed. The tea lights go in and the bags are lit. Since the 1970s, almost the whole area has been involved, and it's my favorite tradition. This year I wanted to go for something I could reuse for years that would be safer than actual candles since we actually caught a packet on fire last year. Based on the reviews I found them good for outdoor use. I've seen some other people use them in jigs with good results. I definitely should have tested it before Luminary Night. Our lamps were next to the neighbors (they had real tea lights), and it wasn't even close. With the flame of a real candle, the bags were lit up nicely and solidly, making the whole bag glow. With these battery operated tealights you could hardly tell there was any light inside, only a small halo a few inches wide glowing. I've caught people looking in our pockets to see if the candles have burned out. So disappointing. I also took off another star because the on/off button was so difficult to use that my mom had to get someone with stronger thumbs to press it. Of course she has arthritis in her thumbs but the plugs were unnecessarily difficult to change even for me and everyone involved agreed it was difficult. If you intend to use them indoors, they're probably fine for that purpose. but my overall experience was bad. I didn't expect them to give off much light.
