I followed the instructions and turned on the toaster with nothing in it. 7, it got hot and I smelled burning oil, then it shut down a little quicker than I thought. So, wanted to toast your bagel, the bagel light won't come on and the toaster won't stay down, it just sends the bagel straight to the floor. I've changed the heat settings, tried again and again to turn on the donut mode but to no avail. I can't fry anything so I'm sending it back. I have a friend who has one that works fine and this one doesn't.
