If you need a USB to serial port adapter, I recommend you just buy this adapter and that's it. I use these adapters a lot and the ones based on the PL2303 chipset are a hassle as it's almost impossible to find working drivers. This works fine on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7. Drivers that actually work can be easily downloaded from http://www.ftdichip.com/FTDrivers.htm.
