Review on Trio Portable Monitors: Touch-Sensitive and IPS Compatible (101-1004P01) by Bubba Alderman

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Great concept, but not quite "right "

Advantages: 1. Good packaging.2. Fast Shipping Cons: 1. MacBook Pro (2017 15.6 inch) doesn't support use without stand. Pulls the screen back (I was nervous it would damage the hinges)2. When the Trio Max is plugged in, my MacBook gets very hot; even when on the table/knees.3. The Trio Max attaches to the front of your laptop with magnets that permanently attach to the front of your laptop/laptop case.4. The Trio Max's screen quality is significantly inferior to that of the MacBook Pro because: A) the screen used in the Mac was made with the best technology; B) The Trio Max screen is smaller than my MacBook so the text/screen looks much smaller when in use (the text is also very blurry). There are four resolution options, but none of them improve image sharpness or reduce eye strain. The easy slip function does not work smoothly. It takes effort to pull the monitor out (and it creaks)6. That's big. This makes my 2017 MacBook Pro (15.6 inch screen) with the Trio Max.7 attached at least three times thicker and heavier. There are 4 different setup instructions. One on the lid of the box and three inserts. This made the installation confusing.8. To use this monitor on a Mac, you must: A) download an application that is not authorized/available from Apple; B) Remove the MacBook driver and replace it with a new driver. C) Change your privacy settings to allow 24/7 screen recording.
