I've been making my own deodorant for a number of years. One of the main ingredients in my deodorant is coconut oil, which gets very hard in the winter. I used to use a small container and apply it with my fingers, but it was difficult when the coconut oil got so hard. I bought them as a solution and they work great. Tip to the wise: add some beeswax and/or shea butter to your recipe. It will be smoother and less likely to crack than if you just use coconut oil as a base.
