Suitable for replacing the original 16 LED lamp. Exactly the same size. The light isn't much brighter despite having 1/3 more LEDs in it. Used the old bracket from the original and it works - fits like the old one - no problem. If you're looking to replace the one that came with the tank (1 1/2 or 3 gallon tank) this one is perfect - and at a great price. (Our pet store didn't sell this light without a tank.) I hope this light lasts longer than the original. LEDs should last for years - this first unit lasted 2 years. Unfortunately this one is made by the same company GloFish and I had my fingers crossed that the first attempt was a failure. UPDATE: I've had an LED for 2 years and that one is gone too. And the price went from $21 to $32. I want to find another manufacturer!
