I used to use standard LED grow lights on full CO2 setting while fertilizing GLA PPS pro. I was decent sized but didn't have easy penetration (75 gallons +/- 18 inches deep). Since installing these beauties I have had all the hair algae I could ever hate except for the phenomenal growth of my plants that were in the substrate. For the price, it should be if you're willing to splurge for the lighting. 3 MONTHS UPDATE: Although the lighting is nice and bright, 2 out of 4 used fans have died. These lights are BRIGHT and that is because of the heat cost. With no internal fans running, they regularly hit 180F/82C. I live in Phoenix, which is now winter. Room 70. I can't imagine what would have happened in the summer if my AC hadn't been on, I was afraid they would melt and catch fire. I had to turn the brightness down below half to keep it from overheating.
