Review on πŸ‘Ÿ Teva Womens Tirra Sandal Bering Women's Shoes: Ultimate Athletic Comfort and Style by Jay Liu

Insole YES, straps NO

Background. I wore a pair of Chacos ZX/2s for many years until the strap finally wore out. So I bought a new pair of Chacos only to find that the wonderfully comfortable and durable Vibram outsole is no longer being used. Once at Disney World, my feet/knees/hips were killing me due to the lack of cushioning in the Chacos. I needed hiking sandals with more cushioning. Teva Tirra was my first stop. When I first tried them the insole was just WOW, especially on the outsole. I could imagine walking on concrete all day without getting in phase with these babies. The sole felt a bit higher than the forefoot, which isn't exactly my taste. Belts were the decisive criterion. As someone else said in a review, the ankle strap is slightly higher at the ankle than it needs to be for free ankle movement. I ignored the review and bought them anyway thinking my ankles are skinny so maybe they will fit me. nope When I bent my leg, the strap felt too tight. When I loosened the strap so it wouldn't pinch or pinch my ankle when I flexed it, it offered no support, and could not have been. The overfoot straps seemed appropriately placed and adjustable, which was nice. I always found regular Tevas straps too stiff for me and these straps reminded me why I chose Chacos. But since some people oddly prefer it, I wouldn't say it's necessarily a scam. There is a soft layer to protect the foot from chafing straps, but I found the edges where it's sewn on are actually chafing. Although the size was perfect (I always wear an 8.5) I could predict a 100% chance of blistering so I went back. I didn't like the color of the Bering Sea, although I love blue (should have gone with black!). It gave the shoes a boring boyish look and I wanted something feminine. I would sort out the color if the shoes were perfect. Pros: Surprisingly soft insole, better than I could have imagined. The bottom of the shoe is very grippy. True to size. Cons: Stiff straps, chafing edges on the straps, ankle strap too high, silly color choice.
