A tape to control them all and tie them up in the dark

I'm in the process of repainting the inside of my house so I've tried almost every tool available hoping it will work Make painting any faster, easier, or both. I also found that careful work with the tape is very important for the end result. Sticking the tape means you'll have to touch up many times later. I found this tape at my local paint store a few months ago. They just got it and it wasn't even on sale but I convinced them to sell me the bun they had behind the counter. First, it's not perfect (somewhat?). , align properly, making sure the edge facing the paint is properly pressed against the clean surface. There's no escaping it, especially when you need accuracy. Since this tape appears to be made out of plastic rather than blue crepe paper, it won't absorb ink. This is good in that it is more effective at preventing paint from getting onto the sealed surface, but the bad news is that if you don't wait long enough to remove the paint on your surface, it will still be wet. As expected, this is more expensive than blue paper tape. In fact, the price difference is larger than it might appear at first glance. Check the length of the tape on the roll. It's lower than the paper equivalent, meaning you're paying more per foot just because of it. It's like the old trick of reducing the amount of cereal in a box while keeping the price the same. They increased the price without showing it. why is she better Well, she's a lot better. It's so much better I almost wish they would stop selling the old strains. If they lowered the price a bit, I would fully support this idea. The paint shop manager went to the show where the tape was presented and told me that one of the main advantages is that the tape can be torn off at a 90 degree angle. I've found it's a lot easier to get a straight tear than with paper tape, which is a little surprising. You might think that the plastic doesn't tear at all because it stretches a bit. I usually trim the ends with scissors to get the exact angle I want without distorting the ribbon, but sometimes it's better to snap, in which case it's better. Just don't expect magical 90 degree cuts like you would with scissors because that's not going to happen. It stretches, and while I try very hard not to stretch the tape because it will cause the paint to bleed, this person is much more forgiving on that score. This, along with thinner tape and more flexibility, means you can effortlessly tape complex curves that are nearly impossible with paper tape. It's just fantastic for things like wall lights, for example. The flexibility takes some getting used to as paper tape is much stiffer. It feels like it will flex and stick, and it's easier than using paper tape, but thankfully it doesn't stick to itself so tightly that you can't just rip it apart and move on when it does. happens. It also means it fights with you less when you're turning around windows, for example. The paper tape always seems to be trying to come loose wherever it bends, but this tape doesn't. curve, angle, bend; He just rides like a roller coaster and lies down like he's never going to get up again. 3M has a lot of experience with adhesives. They make a lot of products, but if you look closely you'll see that glue is a very common selling point for many of their products. This one is very similar to the old band, maybe a little lighter because the thinner band doesn't take much effort to keep it in place. At first I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to pull the end out when it came time to take it off, or that it would stick to itself so tightly that it would turn into a sticky blue ball of twine and scraps, but she nailed the glue on it. It's sticky enough to stay on for as long as you need it, yet weak enough to be moved around without getting stuck in the wrong places. I guess I should have known. I suspect they spent at least half of the product development time tweaking the adhesive. Highly recommend, but take an extra roll as it will run out quicker than you might expect. Sean Logue, 2016
